The focus of our oncology business is to discover the mechanisms that block cell-death programs and to develop compounds to inhibit those mechanisms. Our current oncology research program is targeting a broad range of cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), non-Hodgkins lymphoma (NHL), chronic lympohcytic leukemia (CLL), multiple myeloma (MM), and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
We are also continuing to advance breakthrough cancer pain management, enhancing convenience and patient quality of life in supportive care.
Cephalon provides millions of dollars of support to several major patient advocacy and healthcare organizations. The funds assist patient support programs, patient education programs, newsletters and research into finding therapies for the hematologic cancers that are aligned with our business. Some organizations we support in oncology include the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Society of Hematology (ASH), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
