Our Responsibility

We are scientists, medical doctors, pharmacists, business managers, nurses and a host of other dedicated Cephalon employees. We are also spouses and significant others, parents and siblings. We bring our whole selves to work, with passion for improving the lives of patients, serving people in need and improving our communities. This dedication shows in our actions, both individually and as a whole, on and off the job.

We are deeply committed to being a responsible corporate citizen. We feel an ingrained sense of community, which is reflected in our shared values: Integrity. Respect. Innovation. Patient Focus.

Corporate Responsibility in Action

When Cephalon was formed in 1987, we were determined to forge new ways of developing novel medicines, serving unmet medical needs, running a successful biopharmaceutical company and, above all, changing lives in meaningful ways. Today, we are doing all of this ... and more.

  • The CephalonCares® Foundation provided medication at no cost to thousands of patients in 2009, its inaugural year. In 2010, more than 4,000 patients are expected to receive medicines worth nearly $40 million.
  • We support transparency in our relationships with healthcare professionals. In 2010, we began to publically disclose the financial aspects of our partnerships with healthcare professionals. See more about our Relationships with Healthcare Professionals.
  • We are advancing science education by developing and supporting programs that encourage the next generation of students to become scientists.
  • In 2009, our corporate giving exceeded $3 million. In addition, more than $120,000 was donated by Cephalon and its employees through the Cephalon Matching Gifts program benefitting organizations across the United States.
  • We continue to promote the safe and responsible use of our medications – and work to prevent misuse and abuse – in several ways: health advocacy programs; Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS); and Risk Minimization Action Plans (RiskMAPs).
  • Environmental stewardship remains a top priority, as we look for better, greener ways to do business and minimize our impact. It’s all part of the Cephalon Going Green initiative that began in 2008.
