Recent Awards and Recognition

For the first time, Cephalon made the Med Ad News 21st annual ranking of the Top 50 Pharmaceutical Companies, with a debut at #45. The Top 50 ranking is based on worldwide health-care revenue. In some categories, Cephalon rankings were even higher: market capitalization #26; health-care R&D expenditure #36; return on revenue #38; net income #42; consolidated revenue #47; employees #47; total assets #48; and shareholders’ equity #49.

Deloitte & Touche USA LLP named Cephalon to the 2007 Greater Philadelphia Technology Fast 50, which recognizes the 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunication and life sciences companies in the Greater Philadelphia area based on percentage revenue growth over five years. Cephalon has been awarded this honor for 7 years running; this year the company ranks #23.

Cephalon was awarded the 2007 British American Business Council Explorer Award, given annually to a company in the greater Philadelphia region that has made a significant business investment in the United Kingdom. The company established operation in the United Kingdom in 1996, launched its first product in 1998, and purchased a British oncology company in 2005. Cephalon employs more than 100 people in the United Kingdom.

Cephalon CEO Frank Baldino, Jr., Ph.D. was named by PharmaVOICE as one of the “100 Most Inspiring People” and included in a list of entrepreneurs who are redefining the life-sciences industry through innovative approaches to improving technologies, processes, services and ultimately patient care.

Cephalon was added to the NASDAQ-100 Index, which includes 100 of the largest non-financial domestic and international securities listed on the NASDAQ Stock Market based on market capitalization. “Listing in the NASDAQ-100 Index reflects significant achievements across our business in recent years,” said J. Kevin Buchi, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “We look forward to continuing growth as the Company advances its mission of developing innovative medicine for improving human health.”

For the first time, Cephalon has joined the list of companies included in the FORTUNE 1000 annual ranking of America’s largest corporations. Cephalon is one of only 19 companies in the pharmaceutical sector to make FORTUNE Magazine’s list in 2007. The list is based on yearly revenue, and reflects the most influential businesses in the US marketplace.

The World Economic Forum inducted Cephalon into its “Community of Global Growth Companies” — a group of companies with revenues of $100 million to $2 billion, annual growth of more than 15%, a focus on global expansion strategies, and demonstrated leadership in a particular industry. The World Economic Forum recognizes these businesses as the next generation of global multinational companies.

R&D Directions magazine identified Cephalon compounds CEP-701 (lestaurtinib) for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, and TREANDA® (bendamustine HCl) for the treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, as two of the 100 Great Investigational Drugs of 2007. To be considered, compounds had to show potential in a “major or growing therapeutic area and be in active development.” Cephalon chairman and CEO Frank Baldino Jr. said “We took a series of strategic steps to create a fully integrated oncology franchise, and now, we are on the cusp of making a significant impact in the field of oncology with these two promising compounds in late stage development.”

Industry Week ranked Cephalon as one of the 500 largest U.S. manufacturers in its annual reporting of the largest publicly held U.S. manufacturing companies based on revenue. Cephalon moved up from #458 in the 2006 ranking to #381 in 2007, representing the third most significant change in the rankings from the prior year.
